Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars
Reprint expected on April 27!
After a long silence, a new post to share that I have finally a scheduled release date for the reprint of Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars, which is April 27, 2026. It could actually be a week later… but I don’t expect further delays. On this date I should have the first copies available to ship… but since I have made the crazy (but so romantic!) choice to assemble the copies manually for this reprint as well, more copies are likely to become available gradually over the coming weeks.. At the moment, I haven’t planned any pre-orders, but this could change if I see the need for them in the next few weeks! The reprint will have some improvements over the first edition. In particular:
- the battlefield maps will be made of much heavier folded cardboard (so they can be laid flat on the table);
- the leader pawns will have a custom leader shape;
- the packaging will still be in the “iconic format” 😉 with a brown cardboard inner box and outer sleeve… but both materials will be more resistant and better quality;
- the rout markers will be dark in color to prevent them from being recognized;
- the unit counters shouldn’t fall off from the punchboard!
- errata in the rules and folders will be corrected and some unclear points will be rewritten, as well as some confusing elements in the maps will be fixed.
A limited quantity of these improved components will be likely also available at a special price as an ‘upgrade pack’ even for those who purchased the very first edition of the game. I owe them my gratitude for believing in this project from the very beginning!
We had also planned a new Battlefield Pack for spring 2026, but due to the reprint and to other ongoing projects, we are a little behind schedule with development. In addition, the change in the weight of the maps could also lead to some changes in the format I had in mind for the packs, in order to optimize shipping costs (I may have finally found a traceable and economical solution for shipping overseas!). Expect updates soon, however.
