Late October Updates
Some updates:
Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars is selling out! Well, not quite, but there are less than 80 boxes left. I will reprint it, but I'm in no rush. I thought I would have to think about it in the spring.

Pick Up at Essen Spiel!
Ingenioso Hidalgo will not have a booth at Essen Spiel, but thanks to the good relationship we have built up over the years, you will be able to pick up your copies - of Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars and/or the first Battlefields expansion pack - at the fair, at the Nuts! booth (3U210).

Updates! A great review, too many orders and a supply error
So many things happened (great things, but with a slightly silly conclusion) so quickly that in the end I was forced to summarise them in a single post!

Shipments to the United States resume
After a brief period of uncertainty, I have decided to resume shipments to the United States.

Announcing the first Battlefields pack
We had anticipated that Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars was created with the idea of being a system, ready to accommodate new maps and battles... and here we are, less than six months after its release, announcing the first new additions!

Shipments to the United States suspended from 22 August 2025
Back from holiday with a bump, with the first windmills to face for Ingenioso Hidalgo!
As you all know by now, from 29 August, all imports from the European Union to the United States will be subject to a 15% customs duty, which will also affect goods worth less than $800 (previously exempt from duties). Not only that, but it seems (I say ‘seems’ because we are living in a period of great confusion) that for an initial period, these duties may be applied as flat rates of $80 or above, rather than calculated on the actual value of the goods.

Faq and Errata available
Thanks to the questions and comments received in these first few months, I have created a page of Frequently Asked Questions and Errata for Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars.

Teach and Play available!
Yesterday, I had the honour of participating in SDHistCon Second Front with a Teach and Play session of Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars. The event was hosted by the excellent Homo Ludens channel.

Regolamento e Player Aid in italiano!
Sono disponibili per essere scaricati dalla pagina del gioco, ma per i più pigri anche dai link qui sotto, il regolamento e il player aid in lingua italiana di Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars.

We have a shop!
After the big success at PLAY - Festival del gioco, the time has come for everyone to enjoy the first two releases from Ingenioso Hidalgo. As of today - no, actually since the day before yesterday - you can purchase Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars and/or Un altro passo nella neve from our online shop.

Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars: the command system
After the break to share the rulebook, and to announce ‘’Un altro passo nella neve‘’, the game-book by Manuele Giuliano that will be available at PLAY, let's return to the presentation of Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars, to talk about the command system.

Introducing “Un altro passo nella neve”
While preparations are in full swing to close Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars (wooden components arrived from Poland yesterday!), it is time to make official the second item in the Ingenioso Hidalgo catalogue.

Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars draft rulebook available!
Today I was planning to post an article on the unit command system, but in the end I thought I would post the game rules directly.

Units and Formations
For those who are accustomed to the world of ‘hex and counter’ wargames, the unit pieces in Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars can be a little disorienting, because they do lack many distinctive elements. There are no NATO symbols, no uniforms, no corps or regiments to which they belong, and - above all - no values indicating movement or combat strength.

The Battlefield Format
After briefly recounting some of the editorial choices for the publication of the game, today I begin to tell a little about what the game is like. The name ‘Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars’ is not accidental, because it places the emphasis on the places where the battles whose names we still remember today were fought more than two hundred years ago: Rivoli, Marengo, Austerlitz, Waterloo...

Introducing Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars
Today I start talking a little about Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars, the first game - designed by me together with Alessandro Zucchini - that will be released under the Ingenioso Hidalgo imprint, the small publishing label I created to follow some projects that are a little more particular or niche than my more typical games.

Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars on BGG
Very small update: the first Ingenioso Hidalgo game has now its own page on Boardgamegeek. Of course there is also a dedicated page on this website.

Ingenioso Hidalgo at IDEAG 2025
The (mis)adventures of the Ingenioso Hidalgo officially begin at IDEAG 2025, the Italian national meeting of board game designers. There my story as an author basically began, and there I like to get my story as a publisher started.

Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars – Sold Out!
/by Paolo MoriThis Monday, the last four copies of the first edition of Battlefields of the Napoleonic Wars were sold. As you know, not many were printed (499!), but it has still been an unexpectedly successful adventure, thanks to the welcome and support of players from all over the world.
